The design of this handbag includes a traditional huipil (blouse) worn by the women of San Lucas Tolimán, near Atitlán Lake. I like it because it shows couples, as well as horses and cats, says Monica Almorza of her design. Trimmed with dark brown leather, the bag’s cotton panel is woven on a backstrap loom in red and black over white, which is customary for that area. The beige interior features one zipper pocket. Proud of her Guatemalan origins, Almorza completes her design with her trademark collection of traditional items that include a cotton worry doll, a pinewood jaguar mask, a colorful pompom, and tassels.
