I upcycled a traditional huipil (blouse) from San Juan Sacatepéquez into a wristlet bag ideal for casual or semiformal wear, says Monica Almorza of her design. Trimmed with dark brown leather, the bag’s cotton panel is woven on a backstrap loom in red and purple over bright yellow. The beige interior features one zipper pocket. Proud of her Guatemalan origins, Almorza completes her design with her trademark collection of traditional items that include a cotton worry doll, a pinewood tiger mask, a colorful pompom, and a braid. They hang from the round nickel handle covered in lime green cotton.
